Invisible Sentinel and Refresco Gerber Partner to Commercialize Juice Spoilage Diagnostic

Veriflow® ACB provides unprecedented speed and accuracy for the detection of Alicyclobacillus species

Philadelphia, PA – Invisible Sentinel, Inc., a global molecular solutions company providing first-in-class microbial detection tools, has partnered with Refresco Gerber, an international bottler of juice and soft-drinks, to integrate novel technology into their quality processes for rapid detection of spoilage organisms commonly found in fruit juice and concentrates.

The technology, Veriflow® ACB, detects the presence of alicyclobacillus (ACB), a quality-inhibiting bacteria which produces sensory-altering compounds that spoil juice products. Current methods for ACB testing are laborious and require over 7 days to yield definitive results. Veriflow® ACB provides specific, quantitative results in less than three hours from sample collection.

Refresco Gerber is Europe’s largest dedicated juice manufacturer with annual volumes exceeding 6 billion liters, and provides total supply chain solutions to some of the world’s most trusted and recognizable brands. “It is a major endorsement to have Refresco Gerber partner with us on the commercialization of Veriflow® ACB,” said Invisible Sentinel CEO Dr. Nicholas Siciliano. “Not only do we have a partner with an exceptional track record in the marketplace, but this collaboration provides us with a strategic foothold in fruit juice quality testing where there is a true need for our paradigm-shifting technology.”

“We are continuously working to provide our clients with the highest quality standards in the industry,” said Andrew Prewer, Raw Materials Technical Manager at Refresco Gerber UK. “We partnered with Invisible Sentinel on Veriflow® ACB to improve quality control and maintain product integrity, assuring that packaged products leaving our facilities are of the highest possible taste and freshness.”

This project marks another strategic industry partnership for Invisible Sentinel. The company has previously partnered with industry thought-leaders such as Jackson Family Wines, Silliker, and Victory Brewing Company on the development and commercialization of unique applications of Invisible Sentinel’s proprietary Veriflow® technology. Dr. Siciliano added, “Our company’s core competency goes beyond simply providing end-users with an innovative diagnostic methodology. Veriflow® ACB is another example of how our technology is empowering quality personnel to take a proactive, rather than reactive approach to quality management.”

Invisible Sentinel continues its push into high volume food and beverage production markets around the globe, completing several product distribution deals in South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and throughout Europe.

Veriflow® ACB is currently being validated at selected Refresco Gerber sites and will be available globally later this year.
